‘My first trip to Grenada was a journey of enlightenment, the vibrancy
of pure sundrenched tropical colour, pungent rainsoaked vegetation and
unimagineable sunsets that quickly turned to cricketing, chirping
evenings of moist warm air. My inspiration was everywhere and as a young
art student I rapidly filled several sketch books. I have lived in
Grenada for 15 years and wish to share my inspiration with anyone who
yearns to express themselves visually, from people with no previous
experience, to artists who maybe wish for a little further inspiration,
we can explore the Grenadian landscape and you can take home more than a
suntan!’

Lesson 1 ~ CARIBBEAN INSPIRATIONS ~ the field trip
Painting & sketching excursion into the Grenadian countryside;
waterfalls, windswept bays or wild bamboo forests… you can decide.
Drive time between 1 and 2 hours each way depending on the location. We
will work ‘in the field’ for at least 2 to 3 hours with refreshments.
The price includes a picnic from The
Aquarium Restaurant,
transportation, all art materials including a personal inspiration
sketch book to help you further your art work at home, use of a digital
camera and a CD rom of all inspirational photos taken.
Our goal: together we can explore the different methods of experiencing
and recording visually the natural Caribbean landscape and learn to
develop an inspirational sketch book in order to work as an artist on
your return home. Also, to become familiar with different media (pencil,
watercolour, acrylic, etc) and the use of it ‘in the field’ and receive
personal tutoring to find confidence and joy in expanding your artistic
expression.
Lesson 2 ~ RETURN TO THE STUDIO ~ developing your inspirational
material
Time to be inspired! How do artists begin to work? Back at the studio we
can develop our responses and ideas from the field work in the studio,
allowing a wider scope of media (oil, paper mache, collage, etc) and
greater experimentation.
3 hours of studio time with personal guidance and tuition. The price
includes beverages, art materials and computer time if required and all
work in progress for the artist to return home and continue to develop.
Our goal: to further develop the inspirational sketch book and begin the
process of understanding how an artist creates visual work from
experiences, memory and collected sketch references.
Lesson 3 ~ THE JOURNEY CONTINUES ~ further development in the
studio
A lesson of further studio development may be sought if you have found
your passion!
3 hours of studio time with personal guidance to find your way to a
finished piece or to begin the journey to completion at home. The price
includes beverages, art materials, computer time if required and again
all works finished or works in progress.
Our goal: my wish is to extend my years of personal development as an
artist and joy this gift has given me to anyone who is brave enough to
put pencil or brush to paper, I want to show you that anyone can learn
to work as an artist. Together we can begin your own journey of
discovery at Maca Bana with Grenada as your inspiration and you can then
further this interest on your own.
